What does Cal/OSHA require for farm porta potty rentals?
Cal/OSHA's field sanitation rule, 8 CCR §3457, calls for 1 toilet and 1 handwashing facility for every 20 field workers, with separate toilets for each sex. They must sit within a ¼-mile walk or 5 minutes of the work, whichever is shorter. Service records must be kept for 2 years.
| Field workers | Toilets (1 per 20) | Handwash (1 per 20) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–20 | 1 | 1 | Separate units by sex when both are on the crew |
| 21–40 | 2 | 2 | Set within ¼ mile or 5 minutes of the work |
| 41–60 | 3 | 3 | Split between blocks if crews spread out |
| 61–80 | 4 | 4 | Move units as picking moves |
We keep a dated record of every service visit, and we can send you copies for your files. Confirm your exact setup with your safety lead or the agricultural commissioner.

Do you rent porta potties for Cherry Valley orchards and u-pick season?
Yes. Cherry Valley orchards run u-pick from late May through June, and Cherry Festival week falls in that same stretch, so units book early. Picking crews need field-sanitation units near the rows, while u-pick visitors need public restrooms near parking. Book 7–10 days ahead for late May.
Most u-pick farms set 2 standard units, 1 wheelchair-accessible unit and 1 handwash station by the parking area. Crews in the rows get their own units under §3457.

Can you deliver to Oak Glen apple farms in October?
Yes. Oak Glen apple season peaks in October, and orchards there run on our scheduled mountain route days. Book 2–3 days ahead, and longer for October weekends. Units for visitor parking lots and picking crews both go out on the same route, with weekly or extra service set before the season starts.
Weekend crowds in Oak Glen can be large. For visitor lots, plan by the hour like any event; for crews, plan by §3457.

Do you have field-crew trailers with 2 toilets and a sink?
We set the same thing from separate pieces: 2 standard porta potties side by side plus 1 two-sided handwash station. That covers a crew of up to 20 with separate units for men and women. Because each piece is light, our driver can place them closer to the rows than a towed trailer can go.
Picking starts next week?
Call with your crew size, the block you start in and a GPS pin. We set units within the ¼-mile rule and log every service.
Can you move farm porta potties as the crew moves?
Yes. When picking moves to a new block more than ¼ mile away, the units need to move too. Call or text the yard 1 day ahead with a new GPS pin, and we schedule the move on a route day. Moves are quoted before we do them, so nothing shows up later on the bill.
Some growers move units themselves with a tractor or skid loader. Tell us first; a full tank is heavy and can spill.
How do you get a porta potty truck up a gated ranch road?
Text us the gate code, a GPS pin and a short note on the road: low branches, narrow pasture gates, 90° turns or ditches. The driver calls or texts about 30 minutes out. Remote ranch and canyon roads run on scheduled route days, so book 2–3 days ahead for those.
If the road is rough after rain, the driver may set the unit at the last firm spot. Mark a backup spot if you can.
Do farm crews need shade and water near the toilets in summer?
Cal/OSHA's heat rule, 8 CCR §3395, calls for 1 quart of water per worker per hour, shade once temperatures pass 80°F and high-heat steps at 95°F. July in the Pass averages 96.3°F. Water and shade are the grower's setup; we add service visits when heat drives up use.
Tanks fill faster when crews drink more. For crews near 20 people in summer, ask for a second weekly stop.
